ABOUT ONWG
The Orillia Native Women’s Group was incorporated in 2001 as a not-for-profit organization serving Indigenous women and their families in Orillia, Simcoe County. We are an Indigenous governed agency committed to the growth and empowerment of Indigenous women. We support the well-being of families, fostering a sense of community by offering opportunities for healing, sharing, and enriching our knowledge of our cultures and traditions. ONWG is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by our community. We currently run three full-time programs and two part-time programs and serve over 100 Indigenous women and families.
We follow four principles at ONWG:
-
Maintain the integrity of the Seven Teachings
-
Be inclusive, respectful, and accountable
-
Practice and honour Indigenous culture and traditions
-
Be committed to living a healthy and balanced lifestyle
Our goals are:
-
To meet the needs of the ONWG community
-
Incorporate culture and language into the heart of the organization
-
Encourage the personal and professional growth of ONWG and Indigenous women
OUR vision
To encourage and empower the growth of Indigenous women
OUR MISSION
ONWG strengthens and supports the wellbeing of Indigenous women and their families by creating a safe space for community to engage, connect, heal, and preserve Indigenous knowledge, culture, and traditions.
